My sister is coming to visit me in Provo next week! Yay! Since I'll be doing some local touristy things while she is here, I thought I'd do a few "Kristi's Guide to Provo" posts.
Last night was the closing social for the single's ward we serve in. They had a barbecue up in Provo Canyon.
We had our barbecue at Mt. Timpanogos Park. This park is right at the start of the canyon, so you can get away from the city and be surrounded by mountains, but you don't have to drive very far. Very nice! To rent a pavilion at this park it costs $100, yikes! Or you could just take a chance that there will be a free one, like our ward did. {Only problem is if someone has it rented after you've already started cooking, you'd have to move. A risk I'd be willing to take to save $100.}
When I heard we were barbecuing up the canyon, I was nervous about where Davey could sit, I was thinking dirt and rocks, but this park has huge grassy areas in between every pavilion, with enough room to play sports and with a few hills, perfect for rolling down.
This park is also situated adjacent to the Provo Canyon River trail. So you could bring a bike or take a walk by the river.
For dinner some hard working soul put together these shish kabobs for us. They were delicious and a perfect idea for barbecuing.
