Monday:
On Monday we planned to go to Nauset Beach. This beach is about 30 minutes from where we were staying. Although there were other beaches a lot closer, I was assured that this was worth the trip; it was the best.
Davey wasn't too thrilled about the beach. I sat on the beach with him so that when a wave came the last of it would reach our feet or maybe legs. Davey didn't like that. Probably the water was too cold.
The older boys spent a lot of time boggy boarding/ body surfing the waves.
it was hard to pull Joseph away from the waves for this one picture
After the beach I knew Davey was ready for a nap. I didn't want him falling asleep in the car and then not take a full nap at home, so I did my best the whole trip home to keep him awake. It was hard. About 1/2 a mile from home Davey fell asleep and no ear flicking, loud noises, or arm and leg moving could wake him up. Don't worry though, after a bottle, Davey did take a good nap at home that afternoon.
While Davey was napping, the rest of us just enjoyed are fabulous rental. Then later we went to dinner at the Grandparent's home. Ham and baked potatoes, yum. Then we just hung out. Mostly everybody else went to DQ for ice cream. Joseph and I stayed with his parents and grandparents though. But stop worrying. We had ice cream from the freezer, complete with an ice cream cone.
Tuesday:
Tuesday morning was another early start. Joseph, Davey and I went on our own little adventure. We drove to upstate New York to see my grandmother. The trip only took 4 1/2 hours there. Davey slept most the time and we only had to stop once.
There's not much to say about my trip to my grandma's. We stayed for about 4 1/2 hours. We had lunch and just talked with her. Joseph was able to fix the battery in her carbon monoxide alarm so it would stop making the horrid beeping noise. We took a quick, a really quick, trip around her backyard. The bugs were swarming us the whole time, awful!
The trip back took a lot longer. It was 5 1/2 hours of driving; it had started raining making everything a little slower going. Plus we stopped for about an hour to have dinner. We picked Arby's because we wanted to make it quick. We were wrong. When we got there the line was long and it took 1/2 hour just to get our food. While we were eating a huge piece of cardboard flew at the building and hit the window. We looked across the street and there was tons of smoke. The police came in and asked people questions about what they saw. I guess something across the street had blown up. When we got back to Cape Cod, we went straight to bed.
Wednesday:
Wednesday morning was big breakfast morning. Then the girls went to Chatham to go shopping. They had a bunch of great stuff I'd love to buy. If only I was $500 richer. That's the bad thing about vacationing on the Cod. A lot of people that do are well to do; so shops cater to that.
Then we met the boys at the fishing pier. We thought that Uncle Rocky was going to be there unloading his lobster boat. We hung around and watched the seals play in the harbor and eat fish that fishermen throw. I hadn't brought the camera to go shopping and Joseph didn't bring the camera to the pier, so one of the coolest things we saw, we can't show you. :(
We found out that Uncle Rocky wasn't coming in a few more hours, so we left.
We went home and got ready for an afternoon back at Long Pond. This time we were able to use Alan and Natalie's floaty baby boat. Davey loved zooming around in it.
Wednesday night is "Music in the Port." Local bands set up and play in front of stores downtown and we walk around and listen. Joseph didn't want to go and we already were running out of food and needed to go grocery shopping. Joseph agreed to stay home with Davey and do the grocery shopping. I was glad for that because I wanted to make sure that Davey got good sleep.
We walked around listening to a few of the bands. Then we went to Seafood Sam's for dinner. Both Mike and I LOVE seafood! Just kidding both Mike and I hate seafood. I wasn't worried though because every seafood place I've been to has a few non-seafood options. I got the Parmesan Chicken Sandwich. This was one of the best sandwiches I've had! I'll have to go back to Seafood Sam's next time!
To be continued . . .

Yea, more pictures for me to steal!!!!! Love, Sue
I love the updates on your trip to Cape Cod! It sounds like so much fun. I'm glad you were able to visit your grandma while you were there. I am sure she was so happy to see you.
It is so weird to read what you and Natalie write about the place I grew up in and still live in!! I hate shellfish (lobster etc.) but I love white fish (cod, haddock etc). Love Sue
What an amazing vacation!!!
