Look Left, Look Right, Look Up, Look Down

Yesterday was BYU's Chinese Speech Competition and Joseph joined a group of other 101 students to sing a popular Chinese song for the competition.

This song is pretty popular, when they announced what Joseph's group was performing everybody got excited and then I heard some people in the audience singing along. The song is supposed to be a funny song about a nerd trying to get the girls to look his way and like him.

The group was 5 boys and 4 girls, so Joseph didn't have to dance with any of the girls (that made me happy) instead, he just had to make up his own dance moves during the middle of the song. The boys were supposed to dress like nerds, Joseph had a lot of fun at home trying to pick out a really nerdy outfit. (He's the one in orange, if you can't guess.)

Without further adieu... Here is Joseph Chase in his Chinese singing/dancing debut!

Here is a translation of the song:

Chorus:
I look left, look right, look up, look down
And find out that girls are not simple
I think and think again
I guess and guess again
It's weird what girls have in mind

Verses:
Girls over there, look over here
Don't be scared of the way look
I'm actually pretty cute
The sorrow of a lonely boy, even if I tell
Who could understand?

Please wink at me
Flirt with me
Make me happy

Lonely boy's fly swatter
Swing left, Swing right
Why still doesn't anybody come to love me
Alas, nobody wants me

Lonely boy begins his
First awakening of love
Need you to gimme some love!

Love's really weird!

Joseph's group sang really well. While I was watching the video, Brian asked me if I was listening to the Beatles.
