Manti and Wingers {Days 11 and 12}

On the 11th day (Friday June 25th), my sister and her family came to Utah! I was super excited about this.

In Manti, about an hour and a half south of where I live in Provo, they perform the Manti Pageant every summer. The pageant tells the story of how the Church was restored and the pioneers moved west. My mom and three siblings live in Manti and they were part of the pageant this year. So my family drove down to see it.

First we all saw Toy Story 3. My prediction held true that it would be better than the second but not better than the first. That’s the pattern in most trilogies - in my mind. Then my mom and her kids left to get ready for the pageant and my family and my sister’s family went to get seats. The pageant starts really late because they wait for it to get dark; Davey and most of my sister’s kids were asleep right when it started.

Here we are at the Manti Temple, waiting for the Pageant to start. The Pageant is performed right in front of the Temple.

My sister stayed that night with my mom but came up to my house in Provo the next day (Saturday June 26th). Mostly she helped me clean Davey’s room, which was a disaster site.

We found these costumes and we thought it would be cute to put Davey and Gordon in them and take a picture. They didn’t think it was such a good idea.

Luckily they did good for these pictures we took later.

We went to eat at Winger’s, which turned out to be a disaster! First, we show up and ask for a table for 4 adults, 3 kids, 2 highchairs and 1 baby carrier, so you already know this is going to be one wild party. I had a great idea of bringing my hand pump to make a bottle for Gordon if he got hungry, but when we got there I realized I had forgotten the bottle. Trying to feed Gordon at the table was a disaster; I was still really new at the whole nursing thing. Then Joseph knocked over his glass and it broke on the table spilling glass and water everywhere. Davey stuffed so much lunch meat ham in his mouth that he started throwing up on the table - our poor waiter.

After dinner my sister’s family left to spend a few days with some other friends, but she and her kids would be back the next weekend to celebrate the 4th of July.

I was seriously cracking up reading this and Lyal just rolled his eyes! That pretty much summed it up...the pageant was dark, we cleaned daveys room, you nursed gordon and dinner was fine but would have been a lot better if the kids weren't crazy and the food overcooked. But yes...we would be back..(jaws soundtrack plays)At least you got that adorable pic of davey kissing his new little brother!
