Texas Trip

The third and final part of our Vacation Extravaganza was a trip to see Joseph's brother, Alan and family, in Texas.

We left our house in Provo at 5am Tuesday 4/20/2010 to catch our flights out to San Antonio. Alan and Natalie gave us the tour of the house when we arrived, this being the first time we had seen both their minivan and their new home. That evening Mark arrived, and then Alan, Joseph, and Mark went to play basketball at the church.

On Wednesday, Davey and I went with Natalie, Luke and Sammy to story time at the local library. Alan, Joseph, and Mark played a soccer video game a fair amount while we were out there. In the evening we all went out to eat at Logan's Steakhouse. That was very delicious. Thanks, Alan and Natalie!

Little Sammy had a tough go of it while we were there. She was sick with a fever and we think she started teething some molars. She was extra clingy to her mom. We were sad that usually happy Sammy couldn't play much with us.

On Thursday, we went to the park to play, but it began to rain about fifteen minutes after we arrived. For lunch Alan grilled hot dogs and hamburgers. We then played a favorite board game called Acquire. We played that game four times over the course of the week. We hadn't originally planned to eat out on Thursday, too, but we all decided we wanted to go to the Cheesecake Factory. Joseph and I had the Chicken Bellagio and it was delicious. Of course, the cheesecake dessert was delicious also.

On Friday we went to the zoo!! We were really excited to take Davey to the zoo for the first time. Davey loved it for the first hour, and then started to wear down. About 90% of the pictures we took were at the zoo, so that is mostly what you are seeing here. Mark was Davey's zoo buddy and carried him around to see a lot of the animals. After the zoo, we came home and ate some pizza. That night Alan, Joseph, Mark, and Luke all went to the San Antonio Spurs playoff game against the Dallas Mavericks. They were sitting at about mid-court angle, but all the way on the back row. They all said it was an exciting game and the Spurs won.

On Saturday we relaxed, and played games most of the day. We cooked out again on the grill. This time we had steak and marinated chicken. We went to Sonic for dessert and played more games.

Davey really enjoyed the nice fenced backyard at the house while we were out there. The back door is glass, so he could see into the house from outside and visa versa. Sometimes he would even go out there to play by himself. They have a little basketball hoop and a t-ball set. This was the first time that Davey had ever tried to hold a bat or hit a ball. We think that he is just a natural at baseball. He loved it and wanted to do it all the time. Here are some videos of Davey and Luke playing.

On Sunday we went to church, and then we went to visit the Wilsons (family friends). We ate dinner with them and then played a card game. Davey enjoyed playing in their sandbox. He also got his first experience on a trampoline and liked it.

On Monday Mark went home, and we just relaxed around the house and played games.

On Tuesday we headed back to Provo.
