Yesterday I went grocery shopping with Davey. Do you know about the cool carts for kids that have a car in the front where your kid can sit and pretend to drive? Davey loves these.
While I was loading my groceries onto the checkout conveyor belt, I was parked for too long and too close to the candy. Davey turned around with a chocolate covered mouth. I quickly pushed my cart past the check out lane, away from the candy bars, and bent down to see a roll of Rolos in Davey's hand. I grabbed the half eaten mess and told the cashier, "I guess I'll be buying this, too."
A few minutes later I went to get Davey from his car to transport him into his car seat and lo and behold Davey had another half eaten Rolo in his hand. We had to walk back into the store and buy, yet another, Rolo candy bar.
Almost as funny is when I told Joseph "Davey shoplifted today." Joseph responded with "what did he steal today?" "You act like Davey shoplifts often," I said. Then Joseph laughed realizing how he had said it.

Ha, He's starting kinda young! I think my boys were a year or so older than that. Davey is advanced! The current thing to steal around here has been the empty gift cards by the checkstand, we've had two come home in pockets in the last week. Buy rechargable!!
I think every kid does this. Jeremy was confused when he did it and thought everything we pick up at stores was free. He completely missed the paying portion of the many check out lines he has been through.
So much for not giving him sweets. Looks like he took the matter into his own hands, hahaha.
HA!!! love it! we call those "fun carts". em still can't figure out why they aren't at every store. and if a store doesn't have them, she tells me "those other people have it." good job, davey. rollos are a good choice to learn that very valuable lesson with.
