Part two of Vacation Extravaganza was a trip to California to see my Dad and sister, Rachael's, families for Easter.
We left on Wednesday night. Davey was old enough to understand about airplanes and how they go in the sky and he really enjoyed watching them from the terminal window and being able to fly in one.
Thursday
Thursday was our low key day. The crazy Rays weren't expected to arrive until the evening so we just played around with Jeremy and Jared, my two little brothers. We took a trip to the mall to play on the plastic rocks and get ice cream.
Friday
On Friday, we took a trip to Calico. Calico is an old mining ghost town. It was dusty and very cowboy-ish. We learned lots of interesting facts and had fun.
After an afternoon at Calico, the adults went on a trip date to celebrate my brother-in-law, Lyal's, birthday. Lyal wanted sushi. Joseph was brave enough to try a few bites, but Joseph and I ordered the chicken, cooked. This restaurant does, however, have the best ginger salad, very yum!
We went home and watched a movie.
Later that night we watched another movie. We watched Food, Inc. I liked it a lot, although it is disturbing on many levels. I recommend it to anyone, however, eat all the chicken, beef and pork you'll ever want to before watching the movie.
Sunday
On Sunday, we watched both sessions of conference. Then we had a wonderful Easter dinner. During our dinner, Davey experienced his first earthquake. Joseph and I didn't notice we were in an earthquake at first, because Davey was standing up on a chair and rocking it back and forth, so we though we were just feeling him rock it. It was pretty mild by the time it reached us up in the high desert (The epicenter was in Baja California, a little bit below the border) and there was no damage. Mostly my family was disappointed that it wasn't Joseph's first earthquake, since Joseph had been in some during his mission in Chile.
After the earthquake, my family headed back to the airport to go back home. Our flights were delayed because of the earthquake and we got home pretty late.
The third and final part of our Vacation Extravaganza will be in two weeks when we fly off to Texas to visit Joseph's brother's family.
