Last night...

... the magical sleep fairy stopped by and sprinkled sleep dust on little Davey.

He slept from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am and then again from 6:00 am to 10:00 am.

Oh blessed wonderful sleep! I do have some questions though, so experienced moms get ready.

1. Am I supposed to change his diaper during the night even if he is sleeping? When I changed his diaper at 5, his little bottom was red and sore looking :(

2. I got up at 1:00 am to pump, but if I nursed my baby (for those that don't know, my baby didn't learn how to nurse so I exclusively pump and feed him with a bottle) I wouldn't have got up to pump and I would have slept until he got up at 5, so does that mean if my baby is sleeping I don't have to pump?

Nightmares and dreams:

Last night I dreamt that I woke up and was having real bad pains. I woke Joseph up and told him I was in a lot of pain. He said that it was my body's way of telling me to have another baby; that my body needed to get pregnant again. I told him I was sure that neither my body nor I were ready to have another baby. Joseph insisted that the pain would not stop until I was pregnant again. HOLY NIGHTMARE!!! I couldn't even imagine. I am surprised I didn't wake up in a feverish sweat!

I also dreamed that I went with my friend Katrina and her husband to a fancy upscale spa. Katrina really wanted all of us to get messages. I was to embarrassed to tell I didn't have the money. I found out the spa charged for their messages by the 10 minutes. My plan was to only get a 10 minute message but act like I went for an hour. However, disaster struck. There was a huge cooler full of water bottles in the lobby, which were complementary for spa patrons. All of the water bottles were room temperature and everybody was going hysterical! I spent the rest of the dream trying to find cold water bottles.

I'm so happy that you finally got some sleep, Luke never did that for me. About the diaper don't wake him up to change it if he doesn't wake up because of it you know because his bum hurts, obviously chang him when he is poopy I would feel his diaper to see how wet it was if there wasn't really wet or you can't smell pea I would change him, but thats just my opion.
I got lucky with Luke and he was a good nurser and I never was able to really pump because he ate so often, so I'm really no help in that department.

Thanks for the nice comments on our blog. I'm pretty sure the diamond isn't at home, so I have no clue where it is I think its gone forever and I am still crying about it, but still trying to have a good attitude about it.

In my first comment after I said if you can't smell pea I ment to say I wouldn't change him.

That is awesome that Davey slept so well! Abby has slept for 6 hours twice in her life now, and both of those nights were wonderful. I've been nursing and pumping some too and I'm definetely not an expert on the subject, but I would say don't get up unless you feel uncomfortable and wake up naturally. I wouldn't wake yourself up to do it.

Yay for sleeping babies!! I'm so proud of Davey. I agree with what others have said, don't wake up Davey to change his diaper until he gets up...if it was really bothering him and if his skin really itched he would have woken up. You can always put on diaper rash cream if it looks a little red, just to help prevent anything from happening. Also, about the pumping...I did do this a little and I wouldn't wake up to do it. If he doesn't need it, then don't pump it (unless you want extra). But, on the other hand, it can get really uncomfortable if you wait too long to pump, so do what you want. But your milk supply should not go down just because you don't pump during the night. Does that make sense..?!? If not, give me a call. Yay again for a sleeping baby!!!

I love you little girl :)
I remember obsessing over their potty and feeding habits (since that's about all they do) but you are so caring, you've got it. Totally in on the diaper thing. I tell you, my poor #4, that darn diaper stayed on until he pooped or it fell off - and he's made it to almost 4 and seems to be doing alright :).
If we go to a get massages girl, it'll be my treat!
Really little Girl, you are delightful!

I pretty much agree with the other moms. Don't wake him to change him, and don't worry about pumping if he doesn't wake up to eat, this way your milk regulates with his eating habits. I think the others just said it better :)

I would just change his diaper, when he wakes up. Otherwise you risk waking him up, and ruining his blissful sleep.

I wouldn't get up extra at night to pump, unless you are worried about your milk supply. If your husband will give Davey the bottle at night just get up and pump at the same time. Just make sure you pump 7-8 times a day. If Davey keeps sleeping longer I would recommend emptying out really well before you go to bed at night so you don't get to uncomfortable.

Good luck

Here's my advice...

1.) Never wake a sleeping baby. (I'm impressed that you would even consider this... you are one sweet mom!)

2.) Totally agree with the others on the pumping question.

I'm so happy that you got a good night sleep!
