"I Free!"

On September 15th, 2011, Davey can now say, "I Free!"

Davey's actual birthday fell on a Thursday this year. Thursday is a busy day for our family. Joseph has a lot of classes and usually doesn't get home until late. I decided NOT to tell Davey that it was his birthday, because we weren't going to be doing cake or presents and I didn't want him asking about his Killer Whale Birthday.

Joseph got home right after I put the kids in their beds. He went into Davey's bedroom and starting talking all about how it was his birthday and how he was three. Davey was pretty confused, but we decided to let him pick one present to open that night.

He picked the present from his Grandpa Jerry and Nana Susan. The gift also included a card that played a song. We listened to that over and over and over, while Davey and Gordon danced around.

Saturday was the day of The Killer Whale Birthday Party! Davey was so excited! I tried to do as much Killer Whale stuff as I could, and didn't want it to turn into an ocean themed party.

Here's Davey holding some Killer Whale balloons I made: black balloons with white out painted on them to make the false eye spots and bellies.

When his friends arrived, we had a Killer Whale show from Sea World playing on our T.V. Then we headed into the kitchen to make Killer Whale hats.

Then we went back into the living room to play a hide-and-seek Killer Whale game. Random picture of Gordon.

After the game, we went outside to eat lunch, have cake and ice cream and open presents. For lunch we had peanut butter and jelly/honey sandwiches for the kids (chicken salad sandwiches for the moms), carrots, grapes, fishy crackers and popcorn. (Every time I asked Davey what he wanted to eat on his birthday he said, popcorn and candies.)

And then the water fun began! We had two kiddie pools full of water and toys and a homemade slip-in-slide. We got a painter's tarp then added a hill, some soap and water. Every one had so much fun!

Happy Birthday, Davey! We can't believe that you are so big. We love you so much!
