Sharing a Room, Sharing Diseases

On Thursday December 30th Davey, Gordon and I returned home after 5 long weeks of vacation. The trip back home wasn't too bad considering, but it took us about 3 hours longer than planned. We got home we were tired.

But when we went into Davey's room we found a surprise! Joseph had set up Davey's new toddler bed. We talked to Davey about the changes that were going to happen slowly over the next few weeks: Davey would start sleeping in a big boy bed and then Gordon would move into his room and sleep in his old crib.

Well Davey was so excited that it all happened that night - cold turkey style. And it has been a super smooth transition. Davey doesn't have any problems with getting out of his bed after he's been put down for a nap or the night. Gordon did just fine moving into a big crib. And I did OK having my baby be down the hall instead of right next to me.

They both love sharing a room and being brothers and best friends! (matching pjs, listening to a bed time story, in their room)

The next day Gordon wakes up looking like this:

We had to go and see a different doctor because our doctor office was closed for the New Year's Eve holiday. After some unimpressive doctoring from the substitute doctor, we received a diagnoses for Chicken Pox!

Apparently this isn't as common as it used to be because of the vaccine. Davey really wanted to have the chicken pox, too. After we explained to him it wasn't food, he seemed confused but insisted in a great whinny voice that he wanted chicken pox, too.

We knew all we had to do was wait and then a few days later Davey woke up looking like this:

Davey quickly learned that having the chicken pox wasn't as cracked up as he thought it would be. We've had some pretty rough days because of extra irritability, but both Joseph and I are grateful the boys got the chicken pox at such young ages.

Both boys' pox are all scabbed over and the contagious period should be done with. We are planning for church on Sunday to be our first outing outside of the house in two weeks!
