Colorado Springs: Olympic Training Center

I pulled off the biggest surprise I have ever attempted.

At the end of February, I saw that plane tickets from Salt Lake City to Denver were crazy cheap. I called Joseph's mom and talked to her about surprising Joseph with a trip to visit them at the end of the semester. When I finally told him, just a couple days before our trip, he just looked really confused, but was very surprised.

Joseph's ticket was for him to fly back the next Monday (Apr. 27) and Davey and I had a ticket straight to California, for a trip to Disneyland with my mom. Luckily, Joseph found a job right before our trip to Colorado , but it didn't start for another week (May 4); so, Joseph's parents bought him a new plane ticket, so he could stay out there with them an extra week, while Davey and I were to be in California.

The trip was under the facade of Joseph being able to see his family; but, it really was so that the grandparents and some uncles could see Davey. He was the main attraction. He had a lot of fun playing with his grandparents and uncles, and I am pretty sure they had fun playing with him.

While Davey and I were there we visited one of the three Olympic Training Centers in USA. The center gives free tours. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot about what the athletes need to do in order to compete in the Olympics. In order to stay at this training center, the athletes need to be in the top 10% of their sport; but, if they want to stay there, they get their rooms and board for free.

In the front of the visitor center there is a neat statue of Olympic athletes holding up a globe

Along the walkway there are outlines of athletes playing all the sports they train for at that training center. The boys had a lot of fun imitating the outlines and we got some fun pictures, here are a few of my favorites:

Some other pictures from the trip: Davey with his Grandma Chase

Davey about to go in the swimming pool for the first time.
(Actually when we got to the pool it was closed :( , but Davey did go to the pool for the first time when I went with my sister and her kids at the hotel pool, but I didn't take any pictures that time.)
