On Saturday there was a HUGE party at our library. It is Children's Book Week, so they had to celebrate. I took just Davey (Joseph stayed home with Gordon, he needed a nap). Davey and I had a blast!
1. We went to get our free book. They had a million different ones to chose from. It was actually pretty stressful for me. We got a board book that has different textures to feel (because those are the only books Gordon will read).2. We did face painting. Davey asked for a killer whale. This is his current obsession.
3. Davey made a maraca craft.
4. We watched a puppet show.
5. We meet The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I was super excited about this!6. We did a look and find game.
7. Davey got his book fortune told.
8. They had free Balloon Guy. Davey wanted a "Yellow Sword Fight." I didn't get a picture of him with it before it popped though. :(
9. We tried our luck at the Book Walk. (We didn't win.)
10. Meet Skippyjon Jones. Davey loved giving high fives to all the characters.11. Listened to one of the authors read her book.
12. Wrote a "thank you" letter to the librarians. Ours said: "Thank you for letting the Very Hungry Caterpillar come to the Library."
13. Check out some books.
14. Finally went home. Very tired out.
Also during the party they had dancers come and do performances. Davey actually loved this part. We would watch the dancing while we waited in line for different activities. It was one of the things that Davey was excited to tell Joseph about when we got home.
They also had an illustrator who would do a sketch of your child. They had a camera over his table and they projected it on to a big screen so that you could watch him while he drew. It was pretty cool. I had a real hard time deciding whether I should get a drawing of Davey or not. But the line was really long. Joseph was pretty disappointed that I didn't do it. Maybe next year then!
