Colonial Days

Yesterday, Davey and I went with our friends (one friend my age, one friend his age) to Colonial Days here in Provo. We had a lot of fun! We got there right at the beginning and saw an opening ceremony. They shot off a canon (of which didn't phase Davey, unlike when I tried to blow dry my hair earlier that morning did - kids) and sang the Star Spangled Banner and even some politicians spoke. The mayor of Provo spoke about how kids today think the world has never been worse off and such but he says it has and what makes America great is its Hope! What a great message!

Even though it was Colonial Days, Abraham Lincoln was there because it is his 200th birthday! What an honor to meet him. We even snapped a picture.

They had a famous native American there (apparently he played his flute during the 2002 Olympics) and we got to hear a concert. He did a great job. My friend's little girl who is not very expressive came and wanted to sit on my lap during the concert. I was happy thinking: she likes me! yay! because with this little girl I never knew.

We also got to see some really old documents from some famous people: George Washington, Paul Revere, Lafayette, Eisenhower, Lincoln and Benjamin Franklin. We got to see a book owned by King James I and a first edition copy of Uncle Tom's Cabin signed by Stowe.

There was also a stage that had different performances going on and Davey fell asleep in his stroller so I stayed and watched some.

It was fun! See:

That sounds like so much fun. I remember you talking about it last year. Maybe one of these years while you guys are still in Utah we can visit and come with you. Can't wait to see you guys in 2 weeks!
