Trip Tip: Always check your camera battery before leaving home. I didn't and my camera only lasted for one davey-not-looking picture.
Yesterday, I went with my mom, some siblings and Davey to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house. The temple is so beautiful! My favorite part were the windows. On the windows there are randomly placed little stars. Davey was such a good boy during the tour; he hardly made any noise and just looked around at everything.
One cool thing I learned while there is that the Oquirrh Mountain Temple is in South Jordan City limits - making South Jordan the only city in the world to have two temples (the other is the Jordan River Temple).
So what's the deal with Mormons and Temples anyways?
If I had to respond in one word it would be: Families!
At the temple families are sealed together for time and all eternity. Heaven just wouldn't be heaven without Joseph and Davey. This video talks more about Mormons and temples:
Are you going to be in the Salt Lake area between now and August 1st? Go here to get your open house tickets. (They're free, you just need a reservation.)
Not making it to Salt Lake soon? Check out this website to see some pictures.

That's so awesome that Davey was really good for the trip. We just made a reservation to go there next week. I'm stoked. Oh yeah, the video works great for me. :)
I love that you mentioned SoJo's claim to fame! That's my home town and I like to brag about it. Ha ha ha! Glad you had fun. We're going on July 13th and I can't wait!
I am so curious about the random star. I would love to have seen a picture of this, but I didn't see any on the church's site.
Glad you could go to the open house! Are the stars in the border only or throughout the windows? It was hard to tell in the picture. I love how each temple has something unique about it.
I couldn't find an upclose picture of the windows online either, dang it.
Here is how somebody explained it: "Fluted, struck with stars and bordered by circles, the fabulous art glass windows were brilliant cut by John Quist of Salt Lake."
The windows are bordered by circles and then in the middle of the window they randome have these starts cut into it.
Here is what somebody else said:
"The stars on the windows are interesting, they become larger in size and number the higher up you go."
I didn't think about this while I was there but it is true, because at first I only saw a few, but the sealing rooms on the top floor have quiet a few stars per window.
That's so neat you were able to go. Cameron and I were watching videos on YouTube about it and were saying how beautiful it looks. We're hoping to go to a session there one day in the future if we're ever visiting.
