I think you should give him all the vaccines. Vaccines are important and it iks better safe than sorry.
Matt Vinton's wife.
See, now this is a reminder of one of the reasons why we are friends. The mere fact that you are questioning whether you should vaccinate is awesome, I think.
I think people should really look into vaccines and make an informed decision. It's going against what society says is best, but that isn't what you should base your decision off of. I found a book at the library that discusses the reasons why you should or should not vaccinate. And rather than state that it is "wrong" to do one or the other (as many books are biased in the "for" area), the whole purpose of the book is to enable parents to be informed before making the decision. I can look up the title and author if you want (it's been awhile since I saw it). Either way you chose, let it be because you studied it out. And it is okay to put it off until you feel more informed. Don't do it out of fear.
Thanks Emily, I know I need to do some good research since this is an important decision. If it isn't too hard to come up with the title that would be great.
ahhhhhh, the life of mommy :)
My advise to you is get the vaccines that he needs now. These are some of the more important ones and a baby needs all the defense he can get. I would say maybe space them out abit more. I think that the schedule of shots is maybe a little to close together.
I was really worried when it came to getting Luke's last shots, since those were the ones that were connected to atisum (thats spelt wrong sorry), he did get them and he is fine, but I wouldn't have felt bad if he hadn't have gotten them. You are a smart girl, and you can diffently make this a matter of prayer.
I also had questions with vaccines, but the one of real concern is the MMR due to autism. I vaccinated Willow, but waited to give her the MMR until her verbal and social skills were more developed. She has received it now and I'm happy we've done it. Good luck with your decision.
Hi Kristi,
We decided to do most of the vaccines. What Cameron and I did was we spaced them out, so Hailey wasn't getting hit with 6 different diseases at once. It takes more time out of your schedule, because you have to go back to the doctor more often to get all the shots individually or you could get two at a time or whatever you decide. But I wasn't very busy so I had the time and Hailey seemed to react a lot better to the shots if we only gave her one or two at a time. The first time the doctor gave her all 5 or 6 at once, and it was terrible! Every baby reacts differently though. The only two we decided not to give her was the chicken pox vaccine and the flu shot (which you won't have to worry about those until he's older anyway). Those are both relatively new vaccines and most people don't die if they get chicken pox or the flu. I've done some research on the chicken pox vaccine and have found that a lot of the people who got the vaccine when they were young ended up getting chicken pox when they were in college (which it's more dangerous when you're older), so we'll probably wait and if Hailey doesn't get the chicken pox when she's young we'll give her the vaccine when she is a little older. That's just what we did. Thought I'd let you know, although every family should make a decision that they feel comfortable with :)Good luck!
Ok, here are the details for the book:
The vaccine guide : risks and benefits for children and adults
by: Randall Neustaedter.
Big decision and a scary one to be in charge of. I have watched Jenny McCarthy talk about her son, his autism and vacinnations one too many times and although we had Jeremy's vaccinations done, I want to do some research before I vaccinate another child.
I think Natalie's suggestion was great. Ultimately we need to study things out in our minds and than make a prayerful request for information/confirmation from Heavenly Father.
You are so smart and I know you will make an informed and thoughtful decision!
