This year I had a perfect Fourth of July. It was chalk full of all the things I love about the day. Joseph had to work in the morning :( I was so sad he missed out on my favorite day, so I spent the morning with my mom and siblings. Here's the itinerary for my day:
1. Trying to find a parking spot in Provo, UT at 8:30am (t-minus 30 minutes till parade time - bad idea)
2. Pancake Breakfast
3. Parade
4. Colonial Days (a miniature town where people show how they did the trades of the day (i.e. blacksmith, weaving, lace making). Also there was a museum with some original documents of Presidents' signatures. My favorite part was the play they put on called, "Patriots in Petticoats." In the play, women dressed up acted like some famous women during the Revolutionary War and told the story of how they helped the war effort. Also there was a life size replica of a section of the Mayflower.) This is where my camera battery ran out - way too many pictures of the floats during the parade.
5."We the People" a concert in the Provo Tabernacle of various patriotic songs - with A/C!
6. Freedom Festival Fair (Here I got my hair done and my face painted.)
7. Col-de-Sac of Fire (aka unofficial ward party.) Everybody got together in one of the col-de-sacs in our neighborhood and brought their fireworks. There was a lot of fireworks!
8. Dinner at Cracker Barrel, including the best potato salad I have ever had. (I got the Summer Chicken meal featured on the home page.)
