For Christmas this year, we set out on a dangerous journey to Joseph’s parents in Colorado Springs. The 13-hour drive included an unprecedented amount of traffic, snow and Kristi’s need to use a restroom. Traveling in the Yaris may have saved gas; however, it did not save worry and stress when getting stuck in the snow in the center lane of I-70. Since the interstate was either barley or never plowed, it was not worth the risk to pull off and find a restroom and we took the risk of Kristi’s bladder exploding instead. One important lesson learned from this “adventure:” Never drive through the Rocky Mountains in winter.Once in Colorado Springs, we spent a cozy week (inside) playing games and participating in various Christmas festivities. This Christmas was the most extravagant, in terms of presents, that Kristi (and I believe others in the family) had ever seen. Check out the picture of the Christmas tree on Christmas morning; yet, I am not certain that it does justice to the amount of presents under the tree and flowing out into the living room. Also, check out Kristi and Natalie’s construction of the gingerbread house.

We Dreamed a White Christmas
Due to Joseph’s generous and somewhat outlandish nature, Kristi received more presents than any! It would have been kinder of Joseph to inform Kristi that in his family couples give each other more than one gift, and that in his case it was going to be a lot, a lot more than one gift, it would have saved Kristi embarrassment when giving Joseph his one meager gift. Some of my favorite gifts were all the games (especially Stocks and Bonds) and the exercise video and hand weights. Joseph’s favorite gifts were, probably, his new soccer ball and cleats. All in all it was a very White and Festive Christmas, and much-needed break from the Beehive home.
