The last calling I had was the summer of 2006. I was asked to be a Family Home Evening leader in the Fort Collins single ward. Believing you should always accept callings extended by your priesthood leader, I said yes. Lucky, Joseph Wilson Chase also believes this truth and he likewise accepted the calling of being a Family Home Evening leader that same summer.
Needless to say that has been my favorite calling. However, this has also been my only calling since then. Over a year with out I calling! I began to worry. Joseph had been a Priest Quorum advisor and 2nd counselor in the Elder's Quorum, while I have had to satisfy myself with the idea that visiting teaching is the most important calling in the church. I prayed that I would receive a calling, but recently my prayers increased in frequency and fervor. (Perhaps a lesson in the power of earnest prayer. I recently read a book in which the moral was: you can’t give a 5 cent prayer and expect a million dollar answer.)
Drum roll please: I, Kristi Emmaline Chase, have accepted the calling as Wolf Den Leader in the Spanish Fork 5th Ward of the Spanish Fork Stake of Zion.
I am trilled!
I have already read the wolf manual a few times and have loads of activities planned in my mind. Of course all my little wolves will be the perfect little 8 year-olds, sparkling clean from baptism, who will love Scouts, their leader (me) and all the activities I plan!
Of course I haven't met my little wolves yet, nor attended a cub scout meeting, but until that happens I will keep my prefect dream.
